Operator and scope
Birdlab operates Sketchnest. Contact support@birdlab.net. This policy covers the Sketchnest Android app and this website.
Your artwork stays on your device
Drawings, layers, custom brushes, palettes, time-lapse recordings and settings are stored in the app's private storage on your device. Sketchnest has no account, no cloud sync and no application server, so Birdlab never receives your artwork.
Images you import
When you import an image, Android's photo picker gives the app only the image you choose. The app copies it into your artwork. Sketchnest does not request access to your whole photo library or camera.
Exports and sharing
When you export, the file is saved where you choose (for example Pictures/Sketchnest) or handed to the app you pick in the Android share sheet. What happens after sharing is governed by that app.
Advertising
Sketchnest is free and shows ads from Google Mobile Ads in the gallery and after some exports, never while you draw. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect device identifiers such as the advertising ID and app set ID, approximate location derived from IP address, app interactions and diagnostics to show and measure ads and prevent fraud. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland we ask for consent through Google's User Messaging Platform; in applicable US states you can opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. You can change these choices at any time in Settings › Privacy choices, and reset your advertising ID in Android settings.
Reviews
After you have used the app for a while, Android may show Google Play's in-app review prompt. Ratings are handled by Google Play.
What we do not do
No analytics SDK, no crash reporting service of our own, no contact, microphone or location permissions, and no selling of your artwork.
Retention and deletion
Artwork stays until you delete it in the gallery, clear the app's data or uninstall the app. Deleted artwork cannot be recovered by Birdlab because Birdlab never had a copy.
Children
Sketchnest is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
We will update this page when data handling changes. Last updated 2026-10-24.
